I'm running Windows 7 x64 and my settings are set to what the speed guide thread on this forum suggests. I have tried to set the max active torrents much lower previously, but it had no effect.
Out of all the torrents I seed, I rarely have more than 50 connections spread out over torrents. Most of the torrents will probably only be active a few times per year. All the majority of them would do is announce every 42 minutes, and to me it seems like that would be some very insignificant bandwidth on a 1 Gbps connection. Anyway, is there any way for me to be able to seed hundreds of inactive torrents while still being able to instantly start new torrents, or will I have to pick only one?
The problem is caused by the fact that your global connection limit gets exceeded far before you run out of active torrents. I see this question coming up a lot in this forum and others, and nobody has ever answered it in a way that actually works. Well I have figured it out. I've been experiencing this problem for years with uTorrent, and recently realized that in my case, at least , it is happening whenever I have a large number of torrents that I'm seeding; several hundred at least.
Allow the new downloading torrent s to connect, and then restart all the seeding torrents. After restarting, the new downloads will retain their connections and the seeds will connect for uploading, as if there was never a problem.
This works every time, regardless of the number of torrents I'm seeding. Everyone else who has ever given advice about this problem, such as changing Bandwidth, Queuing, Connection, or other preference settings, have just been throwing out wildly inaccurate guesses trust me, I've tried them all in every conceivable variation.
In fact, it could mean that downloading torrents takes one or two fewer clicks, since all you have to do is click on the link to start the download. When magnet links first came out, not all torrent clients supported them, but now you can use magnet links with just about any semi-popular torrent client out there—including our favorites uTorrent , Transmission , and Deluge , among others, so you shouldn't notice a problem with that. The main reason torrent sites are moving toward magnet links—apart from convenience to the user—is that these links probably free torrent sites like The Pirate Bay from legal trouble.
Since The Pirate Bay won't be hosting files that link to copyrighted content—that is, the torrent files—it's more difficult to claim the site is directly enabling the downloading of copyrighted material. Whether this semantic leap actually protects torrent sites remains to be seen, but for now, you can sleep soundly knowing that the sites will stick around for awhile longer and that your torrents will take one less click to get started.
If you want to read more about magnet links, check out the Wikipedia page on the subject. So, for the galleywho of people commenting on this article - and yes, I made that word up - here are the pros and cons. Using magnet links makes it nearly impossible for a government read: SOPA to stop the distribution of files.
As it stands now,. Remember to always use a VPN virtual private network service when downloading torrents. You can use it for torrenting on multiple devices, including tablets, laptops, desktops, smartphones, etc. Check it out at their official website. Frankly, the free version is just fine, as long as you have a VPN running on all your devices. Magnet links are very simple and convenient. They allow us to download torrents easily, without any hassle. Do you add them directly to uTorrent, or you click on them on your browser and begin downloading right away?
Is that normal behavior? I do not know what "queue limit" is. I have not enabled any such settings. Is that on by default? Other torrents download just fine. Try pausing everything except the magnet. Does it download? Have you set an ipfilter? If yes, it probably blocks those ips. Doesn't work. Updated and tested. Still the same behavior. The ips are getting blocked several times in a row. I am directly connected to internet using ethernet. No, sorry, I am not allowed to share those magnet links.
I might be able to provide you a build with libtorrent 1. However only v3. Are you using a private proxy? Are you allowed to use v3. Why do you ask?
